In California, Bill AB1953 has been recognized (2006.9.29). Since January 2010, the upper limit for lead content in drinking water equipment has been reduced to 0.25% (weighted average). The same bill has extended from New York to other states.
* The surface treatment device for implementing lead exudation measures is actually unusable.
NSF/ANSI 61 (Drinking water system components – Health effects) Exudation amount of lead has been revised. Since July 2012, the amount of lead exudation in drinking water equipment has been reduced from 15ppb → 5ppb, virtually no Pb.
* It can be foreseen that the global lead exudation standards will be strengthened.
Europe: Expected to strengthen regulations regarding lead-free drinking water equipment starting in 2013.
RoHS is the abbreviation for “the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.” The standard will be formally implemented beginning July 1, 2006, and will mainly be for regulating the materials used in electrical and electronic products as well as engineering standards, thereby making such products more conducive to human health and the environment. The purpose of the standard is to eliminate six substances in electrical and electronic products, including lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
Metal material must be tested for four kinds of harmful metals, such as (Cadmium (Cd)/Lead (Pb)/Mercury (Hg)/Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)).
For plastic material, in addition to checking the four harmful heavy metal elements, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) must also be tested for.
At the same time, the packaging material made from different materials must also be separately tested for heavy metals (94/62/EEC).
Following is the upper limit concentration level for the six hazardous substances set in RoHS: | Exclusion Conditions: | |
Cadmium (Cd) | less than 100ppm | Lead in the steel alloy is less than 3500ppm |
Lead (Pb)、Mercury (Hg)、Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) | less than 1000ppm | Lead in the aluminum alloy is less than 4000ppm |
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)、Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) | Lead in the copper alloy is less than 40000ppm |
